Salt Lake County Fair is funded and supported by Salt Lake County. The Salt Lake County Fair Board, comprised of members appointed by the Salt Lake County Mayor, coordinates with Salt Lake County Community Services and Utah 4-H USU Extension to plan and implement the annual event.

Salt Lake County Fair and Utah State Fair exhibit categories are detailed in the 4-H fair handbook for Livestock and Premium Books under 'Competitive Exhibits'. Only 4-H Club leaders may register livestock exhibits for the Salt Lake County Fair. Exhibits must be displayed by August 6 and will be judged on August 7.

In order to be eligible to participate in the Utah State Fair, one must compete and win at a county fair.  The Salt Lake County Fair provides that stepping stone for Salt Lake County youth.

The Salt Lake County Fair provides a unique opportunity for Salt Lake County residents to:

  • showcase skills and expertise that will improve the quality of life

  • compete for participation in the annual Utah State Fair

  • develop agricultural, horticultural, and sustainability skills and knowledge

  • attend a free community event

  • celebrate Salt Lake County’s rich heritage

The Salt Lake County Fair is an annual event to promote and celebrate agricultural and horticultural skills and products by hosting annual blue-ribbon competitions and entertainment for residents of Salt Lake County.
